Education, we want it back!
Welcome to 2009 and sorry for the delay in between postings. The new semester has come and we are filled with anxiety and nerves. this brings up a very important issue that is important to me as a father of three. Education is the key to success, coupled with will power and work ethic like that of a turn of the century farm animal, anything is possible. Are we setting the future generations up for success? or are we to worried about financial matters to create a learning environment in the states that harbors success. Although the no child left behind legislation has helped in certain areas by leveling the playing fields, it has also created a system that is tied up with budget concerns that can only be alleviated through success on standardized tests by the students. throughout the school year teachers are working on a set curriculum that will prepare there students to do well on the test. Free thought, imagination, life values, and civic responsibility curriculum have taken a backseat to the monetary needs of the school. What will happen to our education system if free thought and imagination become buried in the financial rubble? Let your state and national representative know that you want America to be the front runner in innovations, science, health, and life in general. We need to get back to the basics and start teaching children how and why they are going to be a functioning member of this society. The spoon feeding stops now...
